Naples’s public transport system may seem confusing at first sight, but it actually works quite well. The network includes metro, tram, bus, suburban trains and funicular. Metronapoli (tel: 800 56 88 66; website: www.metro.na.it) runs the city’s two metro lines and also the three funiculars up and down the city’s steep hills. Azienda Napoletana Mobilita (tel: 081 763 1111 or 800 639 525; website: www.anm.it) operates most of the city’s buses and two tram lines.
The city has a unified ticketing system, and so transfers are free. The Giranapoli pass is valid for 90 minutes on all public transport within the city. It is also possible to buy a pass for a whole day. |

| Taxi drivers in Naples have a reputation for tricking tourists into paying them a lot of money. Some of them have no doubt done their bit to earn such a reputation, but many taxi drivers are honest. The best advice is to avoid unofficial taxis. To prebook a taxi the Cooperative Taxi Vagando (tel: 081 552 0399 or 800 403 040; website: www.taxivagando.it) is a good choice. |
