Naples is well connected to Italy’s national motorway network. It stands between the A3, which goes south to Salerno and Calabria, and the A1, which runs north to Rome and Milan. The A16 runs east to Bari. Also the A30 is linked to Naples, and it provides a good alternative in the Campania region to the often congested A3. The Tangenziale di Napoli (Naples’s ring road) is where these motorways connect with the city.
The AA or RAC in Britain and the AAA in America have reciprocal agreements with the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) (tel: (06) 49981; website: www.aci.it), who provide a useful advisory service as well as dealing with breakdowns.
Emergency breakdown service: ACI (tel: 803 116).
Bus companies serving the Naples region include SITA (tel: 081 552 2176; website: www.sitabus.it), which covers the Amalfi Coast and ACTP (tel: 081 700 1111), whose buses connect Naples with Caserta and Benevento.
Eurolines (tel: 081 563 4521; website: www.eurolines.it) operate coach services between Naples and many other cities in Italy and the rest of Europe. |
